I Wonder...

The reason I titled the post I Wonder is because he makes me very curious. Often times as he is dozing off to sleep he scowls, smirks and smiles quite a bit and it makes me wonder, "what are you dreaming about?" I think babies are quite heavenly and are still on the verge of heaven and earth itself, so I wonder who is he talking to or who does he see; is it great grandma or his great grandpa's, other brothers and sisters that are waiting to grace this earth or even a little Jesus himself? I also wonder if he dreams about me and dad...if so I hope that we get the smiles and not the scowls. I wonder if his smiles are genuine or just gas, I wonder if he likes me as a mom, I wonder if when he is grumpy that maybe it is a neck cramp from sleeping funny or if he has a headache or if he is just tired of looking at my face all day. As you can see, there are quite a few thoughts running around in my head and most of them come barreling through as he is eating but like I said he just makes me so curious.
Colton is almost 6 weeks old and we are getting quite a bit more "action" from him nowadays which is making things more fun for dad and I. We were listening to some country music yesterday (via the tv) and some Johnny Cash came on he Colt just started smiling and cooing, it was soo cute! Not sure if he really likes Johnny or if it was just a coincidence but I am gonna take it that this Texas boy just knows good music when he hears it :) (even though it was probably more of a coincidence than anything). He is getting very strong and pretty good at holding up his head. He is still not a fan of tummy time but anytime I burp him he is holding his head up and looking around as much as he can; I periodically get a good headbutt too. I read to him everyday and he is starting to actually focus in on the pictures on the pages...he seems to like a couple of Spot books I have from when I was a child given to me from my Aunt Jeri. I love that I have these books (and I have quite a few from Jeri) to read to him and pass down to him. Thanks Jeri!! He is also quite fond of rattle noises, it seems to calm him when he is a little fussy, kind of like a shushing noise I suppose. Well enough rambling from me, on to the pictures..... enjoy!
Oh and Colton finally got to meet Aunt Marie and Uncle Bobby last weekend also. We are now in Dallas meeting Grandpa and Uncle Curt for the first time. So we will post about these adventures at a later date.

just hanging out, love his big eyes!
catching a few z's, I just can't get enough of that face!

  1. i love the faces babies make in their sleep. it's so sweet. i always wonder too, what kinds of things they dream about.

and i also believe they're still close to heaven. i remember when colson was about one. i walked in his room and saw him in his crib, looking up in the corner of the room, just smiling and giggling. there was NOTHING there at all that could've been that entertaining.
i watched for a minute, without him noticing me there. it was the SWEETEST thing i've ever seen. when he saw me, i asked, 'who are you talking to?' and he said, 'him'. i'm not sure who the 'him' was, but now that colson's older and i know more about his personality, i'm not surprised at all, that we had this little experience. he's an extremely sensitive kid. especially with things of a spiritual nature. such a special little memory i have with him, that i'll never forget.
